On February 25, sponsored by the Diabetes Nursing Special Committee of the Chinese Nursing Society, the first national finalization meeting of the Expert Consensus on Quality Control of In hospital Nursing of the Chinese Insulin Pump (hereinafter referred to as the Consensus) with the management of insulin pump nursing as the core was successfully held in Beijing. As a representative of the leading diabetes medical device enterprise in China, MicroTech Medical was invited to participate in this project and attended the conference throughout the process.

Background and starting point of the meeting

As an important part of blood glucose management inside and outside the hospital, the use of insulin pump plays a key role in controlling blood glucose, reducing the risk of complications of diabetes, reducing the length of hospitalization and medical expenses. At present, there is no consensus or unified standard for insulin pump nursing quality control in China.

Due to the fact that insulin pumps are not only used in the endocrinology department, but also involved in non endocrinology departments throughout the hospital, non specialist nurses face many obstacles in the management process of insulin pumps, such as pump failures, infusion blockages, and infusion site issues. If these issues are not handled properly, they may lead to serious adverse reactions such as high and low blood sugar in patients, posing hidden dangers to the effectiveness and safety of treatment.

In view of this, the Diabetes Nursing Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association launched the development project of the Expert Consensus on Nursing Quality Control in China's Insulin Pump Hospital, hoping to jointly introduce an industry standard on standardized nursing and quality control of insulin pump treatment to address the practical problems of medical staff and patients in insulin pump management.
